Restaurants throw away tons of
leftover food a year. Food that has either been recently cooked or not cooked
at all and does not have any more use at the restaurant. Not only is this a
waste of food but it increases the amount of unnecessary trash in the world. There
is now an app, Too Good To Go, where people can buy leftover food for a
discounted price and/or donate to the millions of people in need. The food is purchased
on the app and picked up at the restaurant up to an hour before it closes. The general
public will be able to buy cheap good quality food and restaurants will be able
to continue to make money selling the food they would otherwise throw away. In addition,
the food is put in an environmentally safe sugarcane box so that everyone
involved in the transaction is benefitted. Too Good To Go has also opened up the talk
of how much unnecessary food is wasted in relation to the number of people have
to go to bed hungry.
Unfortunately, right now the app is only available the UK, but it is growing a steady rate hopefully it will be available in not only the U.S.A. but all around the world.
