Song Analysis

The song I chose to analyze is D.T.B. (Interlude) by A Boogie. Throughout this near 5 minute song he expresses his feelings about a girl that he used to deal with and her pregnancy. In the first verse of the song he says, “Bitch, I should’ve never even fucked with you. Trust issues that shit made me feel uncomfortable.” The girl he was dealing with betrayed his trust somehow and he now wishes that he would have never spoken to her at all. He also states that he has trust issues, something that he may have acquired from past relationships and his relationship with this female serves as a reason for his trust issues. Towards the end of the first verse he sings, “Now I feel like you never kept it a buck with me. You saying I ain’t the daddy that would be luckily…” A Boogie feels as if this woman hasn’t been honest with him throughout their whole relationship and has had relations with another person. She has cheated on him and is now pregnant with either A Boogies’ or the other man’s baby. However, because of her dishonesty and disloyalty,  A Boogie is hoping that he is not the baby’s father so that he will no longer have to deal with this woman and all her lies. After the second verse, the second part of the song starts, the Interlude. In this part of the song A Boogie continuously sings, “I love money, I don’t love bitches. Fuck bitches, fuck bitches.” The actions of his ex-girlfriend have caused him to be sort of anti when it comes to women. This line also shows how hurt he is over the situation because he is stating this to all women as if they are like his ex-girlfriend.
