Keep It Low

The song, “Keep It Low” by ILoveMakonnen is about him wanting to keep his relations with a woman or women private. Either to hide these relations from other women or the public eye, Makonnen repeatedly asks for his girl keep their relationship lowkey, as in for just them two to be the only ones who know about it. The song begins with the hook, where the general idea is for him pleading for a secretive type of relationship where the secret is the relations itself. He then discusses how the girl has a problem with being lowkey, causing him to stalk her tweets hoping she is not going against their agreement and telling her “little friends”. Back to the hook, again Makonnen requests for their relationship not to be on display hoping she won’t break that. The second verse start with him making an effort to see his secret lover, but she tends to be busy, hanging out with her friends. He may not like it, but there is not anything he can do about it because their relationship is in fact hidden. Both of them have no real obligation towards one another therefore, he cannot complain for not being able to be with her. Being that it is not serious, Makonnen does not sweat not being able to see her, but he would much rather be with her and have her in his bed. He then, ends the song with the hook to sum up his point of how he wants the relationship to stay covert. The audience is aware of his problems associated with it, but he would have it no other way.
